Pride and Prejudice, novel first published on January 28, 1813, as an anonymous work, is the most famous of the works of Jane Austen and one of the first romantic comedies in the history of the novel. It tells us a little more than a year in the life of a small group of young people living in the countryside near London at the turn of the century, during the reign of George III.
